WELCOME

You made it! Here it is... the blog where you get to sit back and laugh at - or be completely horrified by - life with 5 kids, 2 parents, some frogs, a cat & a rabbit (and those are just the creatures we know about).

Tuesday's Tips (#31)

Here's a tip for you:

Never pay more than $5 for your sunglasses.

That way, when you sit your fat ass on them in the car, you won't cry about how quickly you snapped those little ear pieces off.

Have a tip to share? Or some new glasses for me? Feel free to leave a comment below...

Sunday Nights

I can't sleep on Sunday nights. As much as I like my job, starting a new week really stresses me out. The weekends and days off that we spend together as a family are great. Then, Sunday night rolls around and all I can think of are the hundreds of tasks I need to complete, the random little events and activities on the calendar, the chores that need to be done, the lunches, the uniforms, when I'll get to the gym, and on and on and on. I can't shut my mind off.

I look up at the clock projected on my ceiling and calculate how many hours I have until the alarm goes off. More and more time goes by and I realize I am not going to start another crazy week well-rested.

My DVR gets a real workout on these nights. The TV is a nice distraction from all of my silly stresses. The longer I can immerse myself in these shows, the longer I can put off the start of a new week.

So, here I am. Watching some shows and pretending I don't have to get up and start the weekly grind.

What about you...how do you prolong your weekends?

St. Patrick's Day

I did it last year, so I figured I'd do it again. Here's a little round up of some of our St. Patrick's Day pictures. We made our annual trip back to the Olde Irish Alehouse for live music and corned beef. The kids were great and I think I actually heard all of my favorites from the band (a couple more than once - but that happens when you're there for more than 4 hours)!

PJ & I  were officially dating on St. Patrick's Day 19 years ago. I was 15 then. Where has the time gone??

Some of our crowd
All those Irish eyes...
The tradition of someone sleeping
(even though our table is right in front of the band).

The Patricks

The glow sticks were a big hit...

Dancing after her nap

One of the beer orders was delivered green.
One of my favorite parts of the day!

Sean impressed us all with some fancy footwork.
It might be time to sign him up for Irish step.

Whiskey in the Jar, Black Velvet Band, Fields of Athenry... I think I heard all of my favorites. We even heard PJ's favorite, Galway Girl, before we left.

There's a little round up of our annual St. Patrick's Day fun. I'm just hoping the kids will still want us hanging with them when they're old enough to go out and celebrate on their own!

When Life Catches Up To You

I haven't blogged in over a month. I can't seem to find the time. For whatever reason, I can't seem to find the time to do anything. I haven't been to the gym, my house is a disaster, I'm behind on everything on my "to do" list. Man, these 87 5 kids are a real time-suck.

So, this is me, making a pact with myself to find the time. Time to do the things I both want and need to do. I'm just not quite sure where that time is going to come from, yet. I can't quit my job and I already don't sleep. Maybe someone wants to adopt my kids (or my housework) for a week? Come on, you know you want to!

In the meantime, I do intend to catch up on my blogging. It's something I really enjoy and I've got plenty of ridiculous stories to tell. These children may be the vampires of all my free time, but their nonsense offers endless writing material.

So, keep your eyes out for a new story or two. They should be coming soon...

What about you... How have you been managing your time lately?
